The new Probation Qualifications Framework provides work-based pathways to qualify as either a Probation Services Officer (PSO) or as a Probation Officer (PO). The former is a new mandatory qualification for PSOs appointed after April 2010 and is optional for existing PSOs. The PO qualifications, provide eligibility to apply for Probation Officer Posts and replace the Diploma in Probation Studies from April 2010.
